The Albion midfielder has joined Los Angeles FC on loan until January.
Los Angeles are currently on course for the title-deciding play-offs and recently signed Son after he parted company with Tottennham.
The Republic of Ireland international spent last season on loan with Stoke City, where he made 35 Championship appearances.
He was previously with Blackburn Rovers but now faces a very different challenge in California.
Albion technical director David Weir said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Andrew, where he will get to test himself in a new league and culture, as well as work alongside some of the big names in the game.
“We will keep close tabs on his progress and wish him the best of luck during his time in Los Angeles.”
Los Angeles are coached by former USA intenational Steven Cherundolo.
