The name “Vance” made a big splash on Wednesday in more ways than one.

Then the National Hurricane Center announced the name of a new tropical storm in the eastern Pacific: Vance.

The Associated Press said Vance ― the storm, not the vice president ― was located about 520 miles (835 kilometers) south of Acapulco, Mexico, and posed no risk to land.

However, Accuweather.com predicted that Vance the storm could become a Category 3 storm and bring heavy rain, rough surf and gusty winds to Mexico’s Pacific coast even if it doesn’t hit land.

HuffPost reached out to Vance ― the vice president, not the storm ― for comment, but no one immediately responded.
