ARCADIA, Calif. (KABC) — Two people are dead, including a teenage girl, as a criminal investigation spanning Arcadia and Pasadena was underway Thursday afternoon, with police investigating two separate scenes, authorities said.

One investigation was taking place at an apartment in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive in Arcadia, police said. Video from the scene showed part of a glass balcony door shattered.

According to the Arcadia Police Department, officers responded to the scene after receiving a report of a man inside the home that had fired a gun.

“It sounded like something had fallen from a high, like something heavy had just like fallen. It was like a bang sound,” said a neighbor who lives just down the hallway.

“When officers arrived, the man had fled the scene, and officers discovered a juvenile female suffering from a gunshot wound,” Arcadia police said in a news release.

The victim died at the scene. Her name is being withheld at this time. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

Police were also investigating a scene on Arroyo Parkway near Glenarm in Pasadena, where a man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Pasadena spokesperson Lisa Derderian.

Arcadia police were involved with that investigation.

Workers from an auto shop across the street told Eyewitness News that they heard a shot, then ran outside to see police officers approach a person to handcuff him.

“We look out the window, there’s this guy, he’s laying face down on the floor. A couple seconds later, police officers show up and they close off the area,” said Michael Amini, manager at Alliance Auto Body Works.

Authorities have not released details about how the two scenes may be connected. Officials were continuing to investigate, and additional information was not immediately available.

This is a developing story. This article will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
