A berry picker is none the worse for wear after a dead battery caused her to become stranded on a remote trail near Birchy Narrows.
Deer Lake RCMP were first called on Wednesday when the 64-year-old woman’s car failed to start after she had gone blueberry picking.
The woman came prepared, however, telling police that she was not injured and that she had adequate supplies to spend the night – including warm clothes, food, and water.
She was also able to share her GPS coordinates with police.
The next morning, volunteers with Deer Lake Ground Search and Rescue were able to locate the woman and boost her battery so that she could drive back to safety.
RCMP say the incident is a reminder of why it is important to pack the right gear before heading outdoors, noting that the woman was able to stay safe and healthy while waiting for assistance thanks to the supplies she brought.
