A major Montreal developer can no longer manage construction projects after Quebec’s building authority cancelled his licence, accusing him of a “lack of competence and integrity” amid repeated breaches of building regulations.

The Oct. 19 decision from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec cancelled the construction licence of Swimko and two other companies tied to real estate developer Berish Schwimmer, as well as a company founded by his former employee.

A workplace inspector quoted in the decision called Swimko job sites among the “worst construction sites he had visited” over his two-decade career.
