Police are asking for the public’s help locating an 18-year-old woman whose disappearance on Vancouver Island is being described as suspicious.

Melissa Harper was reported missing on Oct. 21, the same day she was last contacted. She was last known to be in Qualicum Beach.

Police and family are concerned for her health and well-being.

“The circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious,” said Corp. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the BC RCMP, in a release.

“For this reason, the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.”

Harper is described as five feet four inches tall, weighing approximately 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say she also has ties to the Lower Mainland and Alberta.

Anyone with information about Harper’s whereabouts is urged to contact their local police department or the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit information line at 250-380-6211.
