On Saturday, Oct. 31, early voting officially ended at 6 p.m. Hundreds of thousands of voters have already cast their ballots in a historic voter turnout.
The University of Florida Election Lab reports that South Carolina had just under one million early votes cast.
Director of Elections in Greenville County Patty Roach said that for the last six months teams of poll workers have been working diligently through seven different elections to ensure that there are no hiccups, with each election having two weeks of early voting prior.
“We have had hundreds of people working our staff here and also at early voting. We are excited, but we are tired. They have done great,” Roach said.
SC Early Voter Turnout

The largest turnout was on the first day at over 98,000 votes. The lowest amount was over 50,000. Compare that to the Friday before Halloween with 110,172 early votes. Election officials have high expectations for the last day of early voting. With Roach saying, “Yesterday we had over 10,000 voters come through. We’re hoping for a big day today.”
Use the map above to see how many early votes have been cast in each state, including mail-in ballots accepted and early votes. The data does not show election results, just the number of votes that have been cast. In 31 states plus Washington, D.C., voters can register under a party affiliation. When that data is available, it is included under a state’s data. Not all states allowed early voting.
If you didn’t get a chance to vote early in the midterm election, you will still be able to cast your ballot on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
