Racers Edge Wānaka owners are closing one of their stores as they gear up for bigger and better plans.
After five years in Helwick St, Racers Edge Bike is closing and moving all bike, snow, outdoor and watersport services to its flagship store in Ardmore St.
“That space allowed us to expand our bike offering, experiment with product ranges and meet a whole new generation of riders,” Racers Edge managing director Charles Cochrane said.
“But now it’s time to bring the team back under one roof for the very short term, as we prepare for what comes next.”
The move was key to the business’s plan for the next 15 years.
A new space for Racers Edge was being reviewed, and this transition marked the beginning of bigger change.
“We’re building toward something exciting, and we can’t wait to share more soon.”
Racers Edge’s team of gear guides, bike techs and outdoor enthusiasts will continue offering the same service and expertise — just consolidated at their lakefront location, 99 Ardmore St.
“We ran a successful ski, bike, outdoor and watersport business at the 99 Ardmore St location for more than 15 years before expanding to Helwick St in 2020, so we are more than confident that we can continue delivering a world-class multisport offering in that space again,” Mr Cochrane said.
“We’re actually excited to do it again for the summer.”
Racers Edge has been part of the community since 1989, evolving alongside the town and its outdoor culture.
