“How do you actually build a durable moat in an industry?” queried Summit Rosenberg, Senior Associate at KOMPAS VC, during the Tech1 Gala and Awards night. Speaking to CTech’s Amy Shapiro, Rosenberg expressed how true defensibility comes from “having some piece of hardware, some unique type of physical data that isn’t on the Internet or that’s tribal to a certain industry.”
Looking at Israel’s high tech sector, Rosenberg stated that “an area I think Israel is very strong is… this intersection of software and hardware, especially in the electricity space.” As the global demand for data centers and physical infrastructure grows, he pinpointed the “orchestration of electricity and compute” as a massive investment opportunity, specifically for startups focused on “innovations of how to be more creative with power.”
