The East Lansing Police Department will hold a press conference regarding the two overnight shootings.
At the 3 p.m. press conference, ELPD will also be addressing “incidents,” though it’s unclear what specifically.
Last night, Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety assisted ELPD with responding to the “shootings,” Michigan State University spokesperson Amber McCann told The State News this morning.
The shootings occurred off-campus and did not pose a threat to campus, McCann said.
One of the alleged shootings occurred at Linden Street and M.A.C. Avenue.
The first shots were fired at approximately 12:26 a.m. on Nov. 1.
ELPD was searching for a suspect at approximately 1:30 a.m.
ELPD Lt. Chad Stemen said he administered medical care to victims. At this time, there is no confirmation of how many victims there are.
The State News spoke to witnesses in the area.
Multiple witnesses said there were anywhere between 3 and 7 shots fired.
A witness said they saw one person lying on the ground following the shots.
Another witness walking on M.A.C. Avenue said he saw two groups of individuals arguing around a car when one individual emerged from the vehicle holding a gun.
