JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A Brandon man has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting at the Hideaway nightclub early Sunday morning.
On Friday, Eddie Collier appeared in Jackson Municipal Court, where he was charged with two counts of capital murder and seven counts of aggravated assault, for allegedly shooting and killing two people and wounding seven others when he opened fire at a Halloween party.
Judge Jeffrey Reynolds denied bond on the capital murder counts and set bond at $3.5 million for the aggravated assault charges, or $500,000 per count.
The 22-year-old’s case is being transferred to the Hinds County Court. He is currently being held at the Hinds County Detention Center.
According to a detective, Jackson Police received a call about a shooting there at approximately 1:10 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived, they found two people had been shot and killed. Others at the time had been taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and St. Dominic Hospital for treatment.
The detective said officers were dispatched to the hospitals to speak with the victims, and that Collier was identified by multiple people through a photo lineup.
It was not known how many victims were taken to the hospital. Initially, police initially knew of six individuals being shot or killed, a number that has since increased.

The detective also provided more details about the incident, saying the club was already at capacity at the time of the shooting, and that the promoter and a security guard let him in through the back door.
Police say Collier paid the security guard an extra $20 so he could get in with a weapon.
Once inside, Collier noticed someone flashing cash and attempted to rob him.
That’s when one of the victims walked up and attempted to knock the gun down, telling him that wasn’t going to happen.
The detective told the court Collier then opened fire, hitting that victim four times and shooting multiple other people.
A lawsuit filed against the Hideaway’s owners on Thursday revealed that two shooters entered the club. Both were armed with rifles and ski masks and “were seeking out certain individuals with whom they had a previous conflict earlier in the evening.”
No motives were mentioned in court.
20-year-old Lovdai Poindexter and 18-year-old Jada Henderson were killed.
Family and friends of Henderson, a first-year student at Jackson State University, were in the courtroom when facts of the case were revealed.
One family member was initially asked to leave because she was sobbing. However, the judge allowed her to stay but said anyone who has an outburst would be escorted out.
Kelly Bullard, first lady of Covington Fellowship Baptist Church, Henderson’s church, spoke with 3 On Your Side after the proceedings were over.
“This young lady was brought here to run track … She has literally been in school for two months, and now we’re taking home a box of ashes,” she said.
“What is wrong with this system? He had multiple charges against him. Something is wrong and we have to get it right.”
At the time, police say Collier was on house arrest for an incident in Rankin County and was wearing an ankle monitor.
“He just got out of jail in early October. He had an ankle monitor on, but he was not charging it,” the detective said.
According to police, Collier has an extensive criminal history in Rankin County. In 2021, he was arrested for burglary and armed robbery. The following year, he was arrested on another burglary charge, and had a felony hold against him for auto theft.
In 2026, he was arrested for having an illegal switch on a gun. He was arrested again in October 2026 on an illegal drug charge and for felony carrying of a firearm.
“Rankin County had been giving him bonds, but he allegedly posted bond and they let him out of jail,” the detective said. “He’s a clear and present danger not just to citizens in Rankin County, but to citizens in Jackson.”
