KAMLOOPS — The RCMP’s Southeast District Major Crime Unit is investigating a suspicious death after human remains were discovered in a burned out vehicle Saturday (Aug. 23).

The Tk’emlups Rural RCMP was called to respond to a vehicle fire on Tranquille-Criss Creek Road. In a news release, police say the human remains were found in a burned black 2019 Volkswagen Golf that they believe was stolen.

Police have not said if they have identified the human remains, but they did confirm that they’re looking into the circumstances of the death.

“MCU investigators are looking for public assistance in determining the circumstances that led to the vehicle fire and death,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Jason Smart of the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit said.
