Kobbie Mainoo would consider leaving Manchester United in the final week of the summer transfer window if a suitable offer was tabled, according to reports.
The midfielder’s future at Old Trafford has been placed into doubt in the first two weeks of the season after being left on the bench by Ruben Amorim against Arsenal and Fulham.
On Sunday, Amorim started Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in midfield before dropping Mason Mount alongside the United captain when he made changes. Manuel Ugarte was then preferred with Mainoo forced to watch from the dugout.
After the draw in London, Amorim revealed that the England international is in competition with Fernandes for a place in his starting XI. “He’s fighting for the position now with Bruno,” Amorim explained.
“And I change two midfielders. I let Mason Mount [play] there because we want to score a goal and when I changed I felt the team need to return to one holding midfielder near Bruno.

“So he (Mainoo) just needs to fight for the position with Bruno, as [it] should be at Manchester United. [Sometimes] he’s going to play with Bruno, but at the moment he’s fighting in training with Bruno for the position.”
The 20-year-old has only started 15 games of Amorim’s 44 matches in charge with Ugarte and Casemiro preferred. Alex Crook of talkSPORT has reported that Mainoo is considering leaving the club if a bid comes in.
In January, shock reports suggested that Chelsea were interested amid his ongoing contract stalemate with the club. Tottenham have also been credited with interest in the midfielder.
The Manchester Evening News understands there has been no progress in discussions for a new deal for Mainoo. His current deal contract in 2027 but the club has the option of an additional year.
