Two people have been rushed to hospital via emergency run following a reported stabbing on board a streetcar in Toronto’s downtown core, police say.
It happened near College and Bathurst streets at around 8:25 a.m.
Paramedics told CP24 that a man and woman suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
One suspect is in custody, police added.
Police are advising pedestrians and motorists of a heavy police presence in the area.
In a statement released on social media, TTC CEO Mandeep Lali noted that the safety of everyone on the transit system is “paramount.”
“I have reached out to Toronto police to offer our full support as they investigate this incident,“ the statement continued.
“While the circumstances leading to this are under investigation, I share everyone’s concerns when something like this happens on TTC property. We extend our thoughts to the victims and anyone who witnessed it. We encourage anyone with information to share it with police.”
