MSNBC host Joe Scarborough lashed out at President Donald Trump on Monday over his latest threats against his former advisers.

Scarborough was shocked at the Trump administration’s move to target former national security adviser John Bolton on Friday and Trump’s latest threat to investigate former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie over the “Bridgegate” scandal. Scarborough begged for the “madness” to stop, noting that Democrats could target Trump once they get back into power.

“He’s threatening Chris Christie now because he doesn’t like what Chris says on ‘This Week.’ And you just sit and wonder that the people that are sitting in the administration right now, making these moves, do they not understand that what goes around comes around?” Scarborough said Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“If they were so shocked and stunned and deeply saddened by what happened over the last four years, they’re doing it this four years, what do they think is going to happen when Democrats get back into power? Do we really want this cycle to continue?“ he continued.

“Let me just assure everybody right now. [Democrats] will get back into power. Our independents will get back into power. The people that are doing this right now will leave office with a cloud over their head, wondering what happens next. Now, let’s stop this madness,” Scarborough added.

Trump threatened to reopen the “Bridgegate” case in a Truth Social post Sunday after the New Jersey Republican appeared on ABC’s “This Week.” Trump’s threat marked the latest escalation of his feud with Christie, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump since he refused to accept the results of the 2020 election.

Trump suggested that Christie should face scrutiny for the 2013 lane closures on the George Washington Bridge.

“Do you remember the way he lied about the dangerous and deadly closure of the George Washington Bridge in order to stay out of prison, at the same time sacrificing people who worked for him, including a young mother?” Trump wrote. “Chris refused to take responsibility for these criminal acts.”

His post came hours after Christie criticized Trump on “This Week,” where he accused the president of politicizing the Justice Department.

Trump’s threat against Christie also came days after the FBI raided the home of Bolton, who served as Trump’s national security adviser during his first term. Like Christie, Bolton has been an outspoken critic of the president.

Trump has made it a priority to target those critical of his administration in his second term.

Trump’s team has opened investigations of Democrat Letitia James, the New York attorney general who sued Trump’s company over alleged fraud for falsifying records, and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who as a congressman led Trump’s first impeachment. The Republican administration has charged Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J., over her actions at an immigration protest in Newark, New Jersey, after arresting Mayor Ras Baraka, also a Democrat. Under investigation, too, is former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a candidate for New York City mayor.

Trump has directed prosecutors to investigate two other members of his first administration: Miles Taylor, who wrote a book warning of what he said were Trump’s authoritarian tendencies, and Chris Krebs, who earned the president’s wrath for assuring voters that the 2020 election, which Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden, was secure.
