Aug. 26 (UPI) — The Busan International Film Festival has announced the lineup for its 2025 edition.
Taking place Sept. 17 to 26 in Busan, South Korea, the 30th annual festival will feature 14 films in competition that include titles from Korea, Japan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, Taiwan and Sri Lanka.
Highlights include Girl, the directorial debut from actress Shu Qi, who stars in another entry, Resurrection, directed by Bi Gan. Gloaming in Luomu by Zhang Lu will also screen, along with Miyake Sho’s Two Seasons, Two Strangers, the Golden Leopard winner at the Locarno Film Festival.
Another Birth (directed by Isabelle Kalandar), Baka’s Identity (Nagata Koto), By Another Name (Lee Jeahan), En Route To (Yoo Jaein), Funky Freaky Freaks (Han Chang-lok), Leave the Cat Alone (Shigaya Daisuke), Left-Handed Girl (Tsou Shih-Ching), Seven O’Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted (Lim Sun-ae), Spying Stars (Vimukthi Jayasundara), and Without Permission (Hassan Nazer) will also screen in competition.
Other titles include Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, which will screen as part of the festival’s gala presentation, and the KPop Demon Hunters sing-along, which will be shown as a special screening.
No Other Choice, the latest from famed Korean director Park Chan-wook, was previously announced to open the festival.
