Police investigators have been called to a serious single vehicle crash which has closed an Otago highway.
Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 93, between Mataura and Clinton, about 10.15am, police said.
Traffic is being diverted along State Highway 1, and motorists should factor in the longer travel time.
The Serious Crash Unit had been notified and the highway was expected to remain closed for several hours.

SH93 is CLOSED west of Clinton, following a serious crash near Dodds Rd.

A detour is available for westbound traffic by using SH1, turning left onto Kaiwera Road and then right onto SH93.
Eastbound traffic needs to reverse.
