While there was quite a bit to be concerned about when it came to Liverpool’s performance in last night’s game Newcastle United, the manner in which they scored the late winner has led to quite a bit of excitement about one player’s future at Anfield.
Rio Ngumoha would make his debut off the bench at St James’ Park, being introduced at a time when Arne Slot’s side were level at 2-2. The 16-year old would go on to score a dramatic late winner, etching his name into the history books in the process.

With that strike, Ngumoha become the youngest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history.
Some believe that it may have also brought about a change in tact when it comes to the club’s transfer approach over the next week or so.

Carragher Explains Why Liverpool Could Tear Up Plans After Rio Ngumoha Goal
Rio Ngumoha produced some very impressive performances in pre-season, but it was unclear how many opportunities he would get in the Premier League this season.
The lack of forwards signed at Liverpool this summer has seen him drafted into the squad, with his exploits last night now giving the club a decision to make over the next week or so.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher suggested that Ngumoha’s goal could see Liverpool reconsider long standing plans to sign a left-sided forward before the end of the transfer window.
“He’s GOT to be involved going forward!”
“He looked like a player that had been playing for a very long time!”

There has been something about this lad in pre-season and Liverpool fans got really excited. Luis Diaz has moved on, he was the competition for Cody Gakpo on the left.
There was a feeling that Liverpool needed to replace Luis Diaz. But what do you do when you’ve got a young player like this?
That is definitely something that will be on the minds of the Liverpool hierarchy in terms of what they do in the next week.
When someone has an impact like that as such a young players, that’s not just enough now. I’m not talking about playing every week, but he showed himself in a big moment, a high pressure moment, composure at such a delicate stage of the game.
You can’t not see him on the benhc or coming on in games for the next two or three months. He’s got to be involved.
Liverpool will continue their pursuit of Alexander Isak over the last week of the transfer window, although it remains to be seen if that deal will get over the line.
While it was thought that another forward could be brought in, Rio Ngumoha might have played himself into the selection player by finding the back of the next last night.
