HEMET, Calif. (KABC) — A U.S. Border Patrol agent accused of drunkenly fighting a Long Beach police officer was found dead in a Riverside County home, authorities said.
The body of Isaiah Hodgson, 29, was found around 12:45 p.m. Friday when deputies responded to a home in the 25000 block of Avocet Circle in the unincorporated area of Hemet, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
“When deputies arrived, they located the male and pronounced him deceased,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement. “Deputies did not locate any evidence of foul play.”
Further details on his death were not immediately released.
Hodgson was reportedly one of the agents involved in an immigration raid in June in Pico Rivera in which Adrian Martinez – a 20-year-old U.S. citizen – was detained, according to Martinez’s lawyer.
Hodgson was also charged with assaulting a Long Beach police officer and resisting arrest for a July 7 incident at the Shoreline Village parking lot.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office claimed Hodgson was “off-duty, intoxicated, and armed with a handgun” while at a restaurant. He allegedly entered the women’s restroom and approached a woman who saw his handgun, according to a statement from the DA’s office.
He reportedly left the restaurant soon after the woman alerted the manager that Hodgson was armed, the statement said.
The DA’s office said Hodgson was allegedly approached by a security guard who saw Hodgson holding a firearm magazine and a firearm on his waistband.
Long Beach police officers responded to the scene and tried to detain Hodgson, but he refused to cooperate, authorities said.
“As Hodgson resisted arrest, he allegedly became agitated and physical with the officers, injuring one of them,” the DA’s office said.
Hodgson faced several charges, including three felony counts of resisting arrest and one felony count of battery with injury on a peace officer.
