Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the junction of Collins Avenue and Ballymun Road yesterday afternoon.

The incident involved a scrambler motorcycle and a van, and occurred at approximately 3:35pm.

The driver and passenger of the scrambler, both men in their 20s, were taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Gardaí have described the passenger’s condition as critical.

No other injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí said: “Gardaí attended a two-vehicle road traffic collision at the junction of Collins Avenue and Ballymun Road yesterday, Monday 25 August, at approximately 3.35pm.

“Two males, both in their 20s, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The passenger’s condition is critical. No other injuries were reported.”

The road was temporarily closed to allow emergency services to deal with the collision and to carry out an examination of the scene. It has since reopened.
