UPDATE: Multiple people are dead, including the suspect, and over a dozen more are injured after a mass shooting at a church in south Minneapolis on Wednesday morning.

A total of 19 people were wounded in the shooting — all but three being kids. Two children, ages 8 and 10, have died, according to Minneapolis police, and two other children are in critical condition.The shooter was dressed in all black and armed with a rifle when he fired at Annunciation Catholic Church just before 8:30 a.m. Minneapolis police say he had a rifle, shotgun and pistol, which he used to fire from the outside of the church through windows.Police say the shooter is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was in his early 20s and didn’t have an extensive criminal history.It happened during an 8:15 a.m. mass that marked the first week of school at next-door Annunciation Catholic School.“My ask is stand by them, love them,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said of those at the church and school. MPD Chief Brian O’Hara called it an “unthinkable tragedy.”Hennepin Healthcare says it is treating 11 patients — all but two being kids. Seven of them were brought in as “critical patients” and four required the operating room.Children’s Minnesota confirmed it is treating six children injured in the shooting.Dozens of law enforcement agencies are at the scene, including local, state and federal agencies.The City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis police set up a reunification zone at 525 W 54th St. for parents to pick up their children from Annunciation Catholic School.President Donald Trump says he’s been briefed on the situation, as has Gov. Tim Walz. U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also confirmed her agency is monitoring the incident.Several lawmakers have expressed condolences online as the situation has unfolded.
It all comes after three other deadly shootings in Minneapolis over the past 24 hours, including one directly behind Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, roughly four miles north of Annunciation.
