A 27-year-old London man has been arrested and is facing several charges related to multiple indecent act investigations in the downtown area last week.
The series of incidents began around 3 p.m. on Aug. 18, when the man entered the YMCA on Waterloo Street to watch a swimming lesson, London police said. He was seen committing an indecent act before entering a public hot tub, where he continued the act.
At 7 p.m. the same day, he was seen at Ivey Park, committing an indecent act in front of several people, including children, police said. A person confronted the suspect and he left the area before police arrived.
An hour later, a woman reported being followed by the man into Harris Park, police said. She called a rideshare service and the suspect fled again.
On Aug. 20, the man returned to the YMCA on Waterloo Street, where police were called, but the suspect fled before their arrival.
Just after 12 p.m. that day, a woman watched her vehicle get stolen from Philip Aziz Avenue on Western University campus. She provided a suspect description and photograph to officers.
Investigators were able to identify the same man was responsible for all of the incidents, police said. Through the investigation, officers also learned the suspect was seen committing multiple indecent acts at the downtown London Public Library the afternoon of Aug. 18.
At 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 21, officers with the Ontario Provincial Police repeat offender and parole enforcement squad found the stolen vehicle at a home on Chippewa of the Thames.
Police arrested the man and charged him with four counts of an indecent act in a public place, three counts of voyeurism, criminal harassment by repeated following and motor vehicle theft.
He remains in custody and is expected to reappear in London court on Sept. 10.
