Man United’s outcast forward Marcus Rashford is inching closer to joining Barcelona on loan for the 2025/2026 season.Amad celebrates with Rashford in November.

Manchester United forward Amad has wished Marcus Rashford good luck ahead of his move to Barcelona.

United are close to agreeing a season-long loan deal for Rashford with Barcelona. The Catalan club will cover all of the 27-year-old’s wages and have the option to sign the forward permanently.

Rashford was left in Manchester – he has been training away from the main group at Carrington – while Ruben Amorim oversaw United’s opening pre-season friendly of the summer against Leeds on Saturday.

The relationship between Amorim and Rashford became frosty in mid-December when the academy graduate was dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby at the Etihad.

Rashford has been looking for a new club this summer, along with Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia, and he will get his dream move to Barcelona.

After the 0-0 draw against Leeds, Amad walked through the mixed zone at the Strawberry Arena and briefly shared his thoughts on Rashford’s impending departure to Barcelona. “Well, the only thing I can say is good luck to him, but I’m more focused on United and my team,” said Amad.

Amad is close friends with Garnacho, who is also expected to leave this summer, and he was asked whether it would a shame to see the winger depart, considering their relationship.

“I think this is not really my problem,” said Amad in a thoughtful tone. “The only thing I’m thinking right now is how we will learn together as a team and yeah, that’s the only thing I’m trying to think about right now.”

Amad has regularly shared photos with Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo from within the dressing room at Old Trafford. The trio are understood to be particularly close.

Garnacho attracted interest from Napoli and Chelsea in the January transfer window, and the outright sale of the 21-year-old would be hugely beneficial to United to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
