US Open men’s singles competition is taking place through Sept. 7 in Flushing, New York. Thursday’s tennis competition features second-round matchups.

Former Vol Adam Walton faced Coleman Wong in the second round on Thursday. The contest was four sets with Wong winning, 3-1.

Wong defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic, 6-4, 7-5, 7-6, in the first round. Walton advanced to the second round after defeating No. 22 seed Ugo Humbert, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1.

He was a national champion at Tennessee. Walton combined with Pat Harper to win a 2022 doubles national championship. He played at Tennessee from 2017-22, compiling a 124-25 singles and 101-47 doubles record.
