An outburst by US Senator Lindsey Graham at Norway’s sovereign wealth fund over its divestment of Caterpillar Inc. prompted a response by the Nordic nation’s prime minister to explain the government has no role in the fund’s decisions, his office said.
Premier Jonas Gahr Store sent a text message to Graham and got a confirmation that it was received, a spokesperson at prime minister’s office said. Store’s message included information about the fund’s mandate and how its oversight is set up, the spokesperson said, underlining that the sale of Caterpillar wasn’t a political decision.
