Jim Gavin will seek the Fianna Fáil nomination to contest the presidential election, a senior minister confirmed on Friday.

It came after Ireland South MEP Billy Kelleher announced on Friday morning that he would be seeking a nomination from his party, setting up a potential internal Fianna Fáil battle over who will run for the party.
