– Kiwi Property exec Linda Trainer sold her Mahurangi East waterfront home for over $4m after extensive renovations.
– The property features a 245sqm home on a 4000sqm section with a 120sqm deck.
– Bayleys agent Kellie Bissett reported strong interest and excitement from the new owners.
A senior executive at one of New Zealand’s largest listed property companies has sold her waterfront retreat for over $4 million.
Linda Trainer, who as general manager of assets for Kiwi Property takes care of the company’s office towers, malls and rental accommodation, told OneRoof that she was going to miss her family’s luxury home in Mahurangi East.
Trainer and her husband Jon bought the Hamptons-style spread seven years ago for just under $2.7m, but after completing a thorough makeover, they decided to sell.

Bayleys listing agent Kellie Bissett said she got a strong price north of $4m for the property. “We had interest from across Auckland, from Westmere to Devonport, as well as people from Omaha, and other lifestyle areas,” she said.
She said the new owners were very excited about their purchase. “They just love it for the peace and tranquility and views. They enjoy being on the water, and they just loved the house.”
The 245sqm home sits on a 4000sqm-plus section surrounded by lawns and established trees and slopes down to the water.

Trainer told OneRoof in June that they had pounced on the home after a tip-off from local friends that it was coming to market. They made the speedy decision to sell their Remuera home and make an offer.
“We just knew it would be impossible to find anything else like that in Auckland: waterfront, a nice home, and a boat ramp,” she said.
Trainer and her husband’s extensive renovations included a new kitchen with marble counters, an American oak fireplace, new shutters in the sunroom, an opulent ensuite in the master bedroom, and ducted air-conditioning. Outside, the couple put in new shingles and copper spouting to update the exterior.

“The house really is designed for entertaining because there are so many places to go. It’s a very happy house,” Trainer said.
The 120sqm deck and outdoor entertaining area, and fireplace were Jon’s lockdown project (the timber was delivered just days before the city shut down). While Trainer was busy managing Kiwi Property’s retail and office assets during Covid via Zoom, her colleagues were entertained with Jon’s DIY projects in the background.
For buyers who missed out on Trainer’s property, Bissett has another waterfront listing in Mahurangi East, 15 Grant Street.
The near-new architecturally-designed, three-bedroom retreat features five pods arranged around a Japanese-style garden. The pods are consented as guest accommodation and were intended to be accessory dwellings to a main house, which has resource consent but has not been built.
The 4700sqm property has riparian rights, with a ramp in the water, gated driveway access from both Grant Street and Ridge Road, and a stone-lined plunge spa. There is an EV charging station, and buyers can also purchase a swing mooring out from the house.
“We’re asking $3m for this,” Bissett said. “It’s looking like it is going to be a very busy summer.”
