The Kerry Roads Policing Unit arrested an unaccompanied learner driver for speeding while intoxicated.

At a speed check yesterday (28/08/2025), Gardaí detected a driver travelling at 126km/hr in 100km/hr zone.

On further inspection, Gardaí say they discovered that the learner driver was unaccompanied.

The driver tested positive for cannabis and cocaine, and was arrested for intoxicated driving.

Gardaí obtained a blood specimen for analysis and seized a quantity of suspected cannabis.

The car was also found to have four bald tyres.

Kerry Gardaí say several fixed charge notices will be issued, and that the driver faces a potential twelve-month driving disqualification if convicted.
