As many as six players could miss Manchester United’s clash against Burnley through injury. The Reds will hope to return to winning ways when they lock horns with the newly-promoted outfit at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
United may have lost to Arsenal on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, but they showed great promise. Unfortunately for Ruben Amorim’s side, it didn’t count for much when they surrendered a one-goal lead to Fulham next up.
Then, a few days later, Grimsby Town dumped the Reds out of the Carabao Cup second round, winning 12-11 on penalties. While United may fancy their chances against Burnley, Scott Parker will be eager to pile on the misery.
Unfortunately for Amorim, he’ll be without five players. Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez remain unavailable for selection as they both look to rebuild their match fitness following spells on the sidelines.
On Friday, the United head coach was asked for an update on his squad. Speaking to MUTV, Amorim said: “Really well. I had some choices to make [for the weekend’s side]. It was hard. I tried to choose the best starting XI, knowing that, sometimes, it’s not the starting XI that is going to finish or close the game, so everyone is really important.”

Meanwhile, Parker could be without four players – Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts, Manuel Benson and Zeki Amdouni. The Burnley boss could welcome Axel Tuanzebe back into his starting line-up following a spell on the side-lines.
“We have been able to improve on where we are,” said Parker at his pre-match press conference.
“Some of the lads got minutes during the week [in their Carabao Cup win over Derby County on Tuesday] – Armando Broja, Axel Tuanzebe and Bashir Humphreys – and that helps them get up to speed.”
