Check out our tips and best bets for Saturday’s racing around Australia, including the Memsie Stakes day card at Caulfield, plus Group racing at Rosehill, along with Eagle Farm, Belmont and Morphettville.

BEST BETS

Caulfield R10 No.10 Sepals

This looks a nice race for Sepals (10) to make a winning return. Brown toyed with the idea of the G1 Memsie Stakes but obviously there is far less depth to this BM100 which sees plenty of stayers resuming. He’s had 3 goes over 1400m for 3 wins – the latest by over 3L on a Soft 7 track.

Rosehill R3 No.7 Amreekiyah

Looked like the wheels were spinning on Amreekiyah (7) last time out at the 250m before she picked back up and hit the line strongly. Think she can be a much more effective horse on a dry track and the way it’s going, Rosehill will probably be a Good 4 on Saturday.

Eagle Farm R9 No. 4 Ouroboros

The lightly-raced OUROBOROS (4) has shown promise since coming to Queensland and was only collared late when resuming at Doomben in a Class 3 Plate. He rises 1kg, but Damien Thornton stays on and fitter for that outing will be hard to pass.

BEST VALUE

Caulfield R8 No.6 Geegees Mistruth

Like several races on this card, this is challenging from a punting point of view. The value might be Tassie mare Geegees Mistruth (6) though at $16 in early markets. She couldn’t crack it for a win in Victoria in the spring but was competitive in all races bar the G1 Thousand Guineas (1600m). Her fresh record is good, she maps well, and she’s 3 from 4 on soft.

Rosehill R8 No.3 Beiwacht

I think Beiwacht (3) is underrated big time. Dominant winner of the Silver Slipper before not much went his way at two subsequent starts. Has trialled up super and I reckon he’s one that will improve a few lengths at three.

Eagle Farm R7 No. 1 – Ducasse

Blinkers go on DUCASSE (1) which goes best first-up and has been readied by two trials. He gives them all weight but is a Group 3 winner and has ben racing in better company than this. He prefers the sting out of the ground but this trip suits and with Martin Harley will be strong late.
