Ramelton has come out in force in an effort to keep a popular food truck in place.

Award-winning food truck Johnny’s Ranch was recently deemed an “unauthorised development” on the town’s Gamble Square, with the Council warning that they would force owner Johnny Patterson to close up shop if the food van was not relocated within three weeks.

Johnny has since received a great deal of support from far and wide across the county, with notable names such as Noel Cunningham urging the Council to change their mind and not shut one of Donegal’s best culinary success stories.

An online petition has also gained over 2,000 signatures backing Johnny’s campaign to keep his food truck on Gamble Square.

Today saw that support become in-person and tangible, with dozens braving the wet weather to gather and show their support.

The demonstration also saw appearances from a number of local elected officials, including 100% Redress Party TD Charles Ward, Independent Councillors Declan Meehan and Pauric McGarvey, and Fianna Fail Cllr Liam Blaney.

All four expressed their support for Johnny’s Ranch to remain in situ, and stressed that they were lobbying Donegal County Council to review their decision.
