Rep Maxine Waters has called for the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Donald Trump from the White House.

Waters, who is a Democratic representative from California, appeared on MSNBC’s The Weeknight on Friday. She did not hold back with her criticisms of the Trump administration, saying, “This is flagrant. This is something that the president has decided to do, be damned the Constitution of the United States, where an independent agency is under attack.”

“He wants to control the Fed. He wants to be able to determine interest rates. He wants to be able to have the people on the governing board that will do exactly as they are told. This is extraordinarily dangerous. This is the makings of a dictator who is trying to control the entire economy.” It comes as a doctor said Trump’s leg may need to be amputated in a chilling health warning.

Waters asserted that the actions of Trump’s administration threatens to “basically upend the entire economy.” Waters expressed her opinion that the issue requires an aggressive approach.

“It is not about, you know, lingering and trying to think that maybe the courts will help us,” she said. “I want, even though I know it may not happen, the cabinet that he’s appointed, a bunch of his sycophants who probably won’t do what I would recommend.”

“It is time to call for Article 25 of the Constitution of the United States of America to determine his unfitness, to determine that something’s wrong with this president.”

“I would suggest that we move very aggressively to talk about the danger to this country and to our democracy and not play around with this, because this is absolutely one of the most destructive things that this president could do.”

This isn’t Waters’ first time calling for aggressive action against Trump. She spoke out after the US launched an attack on Iran in June, saying that it was a declaration of war.

“Trump is out of control and does not contribute to an establishment of peace,” she said in a statement at the time. “This president must be stopped. I and Members of Congress must confront this issue as soon as we return to Congress. We need peaceful negotiations, not another war.”

Waters isn’t alone in her belief that Trump should be removed from office. In April, Senator Jon Ossoff called for Trump’s impeachment, saying that the president’s conduct “has already exceeded any prior standard for impeachment.”

Before winning the election last year, Trump called for the 25th Amendment to be modified. He proposed that it should allow for the removal of a vice president who “lies or engages in a conspiracy to cover up the incapacity of the president.”
