Calgary police say a bear seen wandering a southwest Calgary neighbourhood has now been captured.

Around 10 a.m. on Saturday, police issued a warning to people living in the 2900 block of Signal Hill Drive that a bear cub had been spotted in the area and that officers from CPS and Alberta Fish and Wildlife were attempting to capture and relocate it.

Residents were advised to “be aware of their surroundings in the area” and avoid approaching the animal if they spotted it.

Around 2:30 p.m. police issued another advisory to say the bear had been “safely apprehended” and was uninjured.

There’s no word yet on where the bear will be relocated to.
