Joseph McEvoy (34), a father to two young boys and stepfather to a girl, was attacked at a house on Shancastle Close in Clondalkin on July 7.
He suffered multiple stab wounds and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Christopher Kelly, (41) with an address at Shancastle Park, Clondalkin has been charged with Mr McEvoy’s murder.
Mr McEvoy’s death devastated the local community and a massive crowd attended his funeral service in Clondalkin on Thursday.
Mourners had gathered outside his home before his remains were taken by horse drawn carriage to the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Clondalkin for an emotional funeral services.

Mr McEvoy was a hardworking father who worked for Tedscaff scaffolding company and was also a talented footballer who was the captain of Quarryvale FC.
His colleagues from Tedscaff and teammates from Quarryvale gave him a guard of honour at the church wearing their work and club gear while other mourners worse whites shirts with green ties and green ribbons.
The funeral service heard Joey had to be the best at everything and he was whether it was football snooker and pool to push ups.
Mourners also heard how much he meant to his family and friends and how much he will be missed.
His burial took place at Newlands Cross Cemetery where mourners released green and black baloons in Mr McEvoy’s honour and gave him a round of applause.
His funeral notice said he is sadly missed by his heartbroken parents Yvonne and Joseph, loving partner Emma, adored children Parker, Alfie and Tori, loving sisters Leanne and Lacey, loving brothers Robert and Tyler, loving nanny Lizzy, loving godson and nephew Corey and loving nephew Kayden, loving niece Mia, mother in law Jacinta, father in law Guss, aunts and uncles, loving brothers in law Damien and Anthony, sister in law Pamela, extended family and very wide large circle of friends, all his pals from his football team at Quarryvale football club and Joey work pals from Teds Scaffolding business.
Hundreds of tributes have been posted online since Mr McEvoy’s death paying tribute to his great qualities.
In one tribute, Pamela Coffey, his partner Emma’s sister, wrote: “Joey, I want to start off by thanking you, thank you for always looking after my sister and showing her what love is you never let her down,
“Thank you for walking into my niece’s life 17 years ago and you never looked back; you showed her the true meaning of being a father you weren’t her stepdad you were her DAD and will be forever grateful for that.
“Thank you for my two beautiful nephews who never stop smiling they bring so much joy to all our lives they are the most softest kindest boys you have done an amazing job, and you should be so proud of yourself..
“We will make sure you are always remembered and always involved in everything your kids do in life, I promise I will always look after Emma for you even with her funny dance moves. It’s not a goodbye it’s just a see you later for now.”
Another close friends described him as “Gorgeous man, a massive loss to the world. An inspiration and a great man.”
A GofFundMe page set up by friends after his death had raised almost €12,000 by Saturday afternoon.
Organiser Jason Byrne said: “Joey was a hardworking family man and the life of every party/ event. He was the captain of Old Tower/ Quarryvale for the last 8+ years and a real leader who everybody would want on their team. Our community is left devastated by the news of joes passing as he leaves behind his life partner Emma and three kids Tori, Parker and Alfie. RIP Joe Mc.”
