An Aviva Stadium worker charged after a suspected €100,000 drug seizure in Dublin has been granted bail.

Richard Adeleke, 18, of Thornwood, Beaumont, Dublin 13, was ordered to stay out of several parts of the north inner city.

He was charged with unlawful possession of cocaine, cannabis and zopiclone at a property in the Ballybough area, D3, on July 16 last.

Garda Paul Sheridan said the accused was arrested in August and held pending his court appearance. The teen made no reply when charged.

The court heard gardaí observed the location, and people returning to the address, and a search led to the recovery of the substances, but no cash.

The garda confirmed he had no objection to bail, subject to conditions which had been agreed with the defence.

Judge Cephas Power read out a list of streets and a flat complex and ordered Mr Adeleke to stay away from those locations. He must remain contactable by phone and not associate with two co-accused men.

The judge heard that the young man’s passport had been seized and ordered him not to apply for a replacement.

Defence counsel Kevin McCrave objected to a curfew being added to his client’s bond, telling the court that his client worked part-time in the stadium in the evenings. The court heard he was about to start a course and had no other charges outstanding.

Bail was set at €400, and he was released to appear again in October for directions from the DPP. The court heard that the Garda case file has yet to be completed.

No plea was indicated.

The judge granted legal aid, noting the alleged value of the substance and that the case was likely to be sent to the Circuit Court, which, on conviction, has wider sentencing powers. The charges are under sections 3 and 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
