Manchester United have struck a deal with Antwerp to sign highly-rated goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
Ruben Amorim’s rebuilding Red Devils have been linked with a variety goalkeepers this summer and considered a number of different options.
Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez was among them but United have now agreed to pay Antwerp €21million plus add-ons for 23-year-old shot-stopper Lammens.
It is understood the deal does not include a sell-on clause and that the former Belgium Under-21 international is travelling to Manchester to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
Quite what the move means for Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir remains to be seen.
Bayindir has started United’s opening three Premier League matches and endured some shaky moments. The Turkey international has been linked with a move back to his homeland.
Onana joined United from Inter Milan in 2023 for an initial €51m and endured a nightmare evening in last week’s Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby.
Meanwhile, exiting Old Trafford, again, is Jadon Sancho, who is set for a deadline-day move to Aston Villa as talks with Manchester United progress over a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old has fallen well short of expectations since making a £73million move to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

Jadon Sancho in the red of United, a rare sight
Sancho has made just 83 appearances and scored 12 goals for United, who have been looking to shift him all summer – just as they were this time last year.
The England international spent the second half of 2023-24 on loan at Borussia Dortmund and last season on loan at Chelsea, who paid £5m to get out of their deal to sign him for £25m.
Roma were among the interested parties this summer but Sancho seems set to stay in the Premier League, with negotiations progressing well with Villa over a season-long loan.
It is understood that the deal would involve a loan fee and Villa covering at least 80% of the winger’s wages.
There is hope at United that his full wage could be covered if bonuses, considered achievable, are met. Sancho’s contract runs until next summer with an option for a further year.
Defender Victor Lindelof has also joined Aston Villa on a free transfer after leaving Manchester United in the summer.
Villa have confirmed the deal in a statement which read: “Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Victor Lindelöf.
The Sweden international captain, who has been capped 71 times by his country, joins the club following his departure from Manchester United at the end of last season.
“An experienced and versatile operator across the back line, Lindelöf spent eight years at Old Trafford, winning both the League Cup and the FA Cup. He had previously lifted silverware with Benfica in Portugal, after starting his career in his native Sweden.”
United are expected to be busy on deadline day, with Real Betis finally close to re-signing Antony.
The LaLiga side agreed a deal worth up to €25m euros (£21.7m) with a 50% sell-on last week, with an impasse over the move seemingly now overcome.
Misfiring striker Rasmus Hojlund could complete his season-long move to Napoli, with a significant loan fee involved in a switch that would become permanent if they qualify for the Champions League.
Unwanted left-back Tyrell Malacia has been linked to Spain with Elche, while Kobbie Mainoo last week saw a request to leave on loan rebuffed by head coach Ruben Amorim.

Tottenham have signed striker Randal Kolo Muani (above) on a one-year loan deal from European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Muani was linked with a move to Spurs in January, but eventually joined Juventus and scored 10 times in 22 appearances for the Serie A club.
Juventus had hoped to bring France international Kolo Muani back to Turin. However, with no agreement reached with PSG, it sparked a deadline-day flurry of interest in the 26-year-old and he is expected to complete a straight loan to Tottenham later today.
The versatile forward will provide excellent cover for new Spurs boss Thomas Frank in wide attacking areas and in his favoured central striker position ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League this month.
Frank had played down the prospect of Spurs signing another forward after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at home to Bournemouth, but the chance to bring in a player of the quality of Kolo Muani was too good to turn down.
Kolo Muani has nine goals in 31 appearances for France and started his career at Nantes before a productive spell at Eintracht Frankfurt during the 2022-23 campaign.
PSG signed Kolo Muani for a €75m fee after his solitary season in Germany and after time in Italy last season, the forward will now add the Premier League to the list of leagues he has played in.
