Legendary Newfoundland Performer Ellis Coles Dead at 86

A well-known Newfoundland musician and performer has passed away at the age of 86.

Ellis Coles was known for a number of Newfoundland radio staples, including Aunt Martha’s Sheep, a song originally made popular by Dick Nolan.

Coles, who was from
Carmanville, worked and performed with his brother Wince, who passed away nearly two years ago at the age of 78.

Funeral details are yet to be announced.
