A man who died following a medical emergency at Cuilcagh Mountain has been named locally.

Father of two John (Johnny) Murray is originally from Roslea in Co Fermanagh but was living in Lisnaskea with his wife Clare and their two children Dara and Una.

Emergency services attended the scene of the incident at Legnaderk in Co Cavan early yesterday morning.

This included the National Ambulance Service, fire crews from Ballyconnell along with Gardai and the North West Mountain Rescue Team.

North West Mountain Rescue Team were called to the scene at approximately 10.25am in the Cuilcagh Mountain area along with the other emergency services.

The late Johnny Murray has been described by those who knew him as an “absolute gentleman who always has a smile and a chat for everyone.”

Another tribute posed online stated: “A true gentleman , you are the kindest, happiest soul anyone could meet and this world will definitely be dimmer without you.”
