Gardaí are probing a spate of burglaries and a car theft in the Bruckless and Killybegs areas last weekend.

The early morning spree took place on Saturday across the townlands of Tullintain, Bruckless, and Meengilcarry, Killybegs.

Two burglaries were reported in the Tullintain area, while a third took place in Multains.

In Tullintain, a car was entered and items including sunglasses and glasses were stolen. A shed at the same property was also targeted, with small amounts of tools stolen. These items were later recovered nearby.

At a second property in Tullintain, a vacant house was broken into, and a hedge trimmer, an orange Oregon chainsaw, and a red Oleo Mac chainsaw were stolen after a door was forced open.

In Multains, a shed was entered and a chair was reported stolen, while no damage was caused to the property.

In another incident, a black Opel with a partial registration of ’06 MH’ was stolen from a house in Multains, Bruckless, between 4am and 7am on Saturday morning. The car was found abandoned at approximately 3pm later that day in Meengilcarry, Killybegs, at the entrance to a forestry area, about 4km from where it was stolen. No damage was caused to the vehicle.

On the same morning, a number of unlocked cars were entered at properties in Tullintain, Bruckless, and Meengilcarry, Killybegs. Items stolen from these vehicles included keys, clothing, a purse with a small amount of cash, and CDs.

Gardaí in Ballyshannon are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity, vehicles, or people in the Bruckless and Killybegs areas on the morning of Saturday, 30th August, to come forward.
