Republic of Ireland striker Adam Idah would finally confirm his exit from Celtic yesterday, joining Swansea City in a permanent transfer for a £6million fee.
Reports emerged over the last few days that the Cork native was set for a shock exit from Parkhead. While Idah’s form had been patchy to start the season, there previously had been little indication that he could leave the club.
Indeed, Celtic seemed short on striking options even with the Irishman in the squad. Despite this, a deal was sanctioned that has seen the club recoup just £6million of the £9.5million paid to bring him to the Glasgow in the summer of 2024.

Celtic Fans Absolutely Furious Over Handling Of Ireland Striker’s Exit
While Adam Idah may well be looking forward to a new challenge after a difficult spell at Celtic, the way his former club have handled this deal has baffled a large section of their fanbase.
Brendan Rodgers said over the weekend that there was “absolutely no way” he would allow the Ireland man to leave the club without “absolute guarantees” of more incomings. They made a number of late enquiries about potential incomings, all of which were unsuccessful.
With the transfer window now shut, Celtic have failed to add another striker to the squad. This continues a worrying recent trend of allowing some key men to leave the club without finding adequate replacements.
In short, quite a few of them felt that this deal was just the latest example of what has become a increasing norm of incompetence at the club.
Rangers: Sign Miovski, who we wanted last summer and spend another £10m on a striker today.
Celtic: Sell Kyogo in January and Idah on deadline day and replace neither.
Enough is enough.
SACK THE BOARD.

So, as it stands, Celtic have spent £7.5m this summer & brought in £20m in sales.
Rangers have spent closer to £30m this summer & brought in around £25m in sales.
We reported £65m cash in bank at the turn of the year, before selling Kyogo, Kuhn, Idah, Frimpong sell-on, etc https://t.co/ssJ03LTvdH pic.twitter.com/2VmRie2OgO

You want a Replacement for Idah?
They still don’t have a replacement for Kyogo or kuhn

I’m all for Idah leaving and moving on I think it’s best for him and for Celtic.
Although selling him and not bringing in an adequate replacement is beyond belief for a professional football club.

Celtic’s deadline day response to Brendan Rodgers asking for more goals in his team after the departures of Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi?
Take 20 more goals out of the team.
In isolation, the deal for Adam Idah is strong. In context, it’s absolutely abysmal.

We let Idah go and no striker signing yet. Even the ones we are being linked with are worse than him. This might be the worst transfer window in Celtic history and that takes some doing.

Kyogo, Khun, Idah sold, Jpta out for 8 months.
And @CelticFC still have not replaced them.
The entire Celtic Board should be hounded out of Celtic Park

Celtic’s lack of action in the summer window has already cost the club dearly, with their failure to reach the Champions League group stages something that is likely to have a major impact on their finances.
While the decision to move on from Adam Idah is one that many supporters understood, doing so without adequately replacing the Ireland striker is an incredibly questionable call to make.
