Liverpool are edging closer to the transfer deadline with two significant deals still in progress. Both Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi are currently undergoing medicals ahead of their proposed moves from Newcastle United and Crystal Palace respectively.
Liverpool have agreed a British-record £125million deal for Isak’s transfer over the weekend – the striker arrived at the AXA Training Centre on Monday morning for his medical. Following this, the Reds have agreed a £35m deal for Guehi, which includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause, the central defender is having a medical in London.
They are racing against the clock with the window closing at 7:00pm. However, there is a slight reprieve. Clubs can still complete a few deals after the deadline if they submit an official transfer deal sheet. By doing this, a club can be given additional time to finalise a deadline day transfer. However, there are certain rules that they must adhere to ensure a deal sheet is successfully recognised.
When does the transfer window close?
The 2025 summer transfer window shuts at 7pm on Monday, September 1. It initially opened on June 1 before closing again on June 10 ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, then reopened on June 16.
The deadline has been moved slightly earlier this year and is now scheduled for 7pm, whereas it was previously set for 11pm.

What is a deal sheet?
A transfer deal sheet is a document that allows football clubs to officially confirm that a transfer agreement has been reached before the transfer deadline passes. Once it has been filled out, that club is then given an extra two hours after the deadline to seal a transfer.
This system was introduced into the Premier League in 2008 due to a number of transfers collapsing due to paperwork issues.
What are the rules?
If Liverpool need to apply for Isak, Guehi, or both cases, they would be given an extra two hours to ensure any additional paperwork is completed and ratified. That would give them until 9pm on Monday to complete their deals.
However, they must be able to submit evidence that a deal has been agreed between the clubs involved ahead of the deadline.
This will not be an issue with £125m ready to be paid for Isak and £35m plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause for Guehi.
