Dumped Broncos star Gehamat Shibasaki was reportedly drinking with Dolphins stars, including Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, on the night that resulted in his axing ahead of Round 27.

According to Code Sports, Broncos players were left disappointed with their teammate after Shibasaki broke a team-imposed drinking ban, with a pact to avoid alcohol in place ahead of the finals.

Shibasaki turned up for training on Monday under the weather, which resulted in Michael Maguire’s decision to drop him from his side to face the Storm.

Now it has been revealed Shibasaki met up with family members at a Brisbane pub on Sunday evening, before Tabuai-Fidow and a group of Dolphins players arrived at the same venue.

The Dolphins were celebrating their victory over the Titans earlier that day, and Shibasaki was reportedly invited to spend time with his cross-town rivals.

There’s no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Dolphins players and Tabuai-Fidow was reportedly “well behaved” according to the News Corp report.

Shibasaki and Tabuai-Fidow were teammates for Queensland in the Origin decider earlier this season.

Speculation has also been rife Shibasaki enjoyed a night out in his hometown of Townsville after the Broncos’ win over the Cowboys on Saturday night.

Broncos players had reportedly imposed a drinking ban in the hopes of giving themselves the best chance of breaking a 19-year premiership drought.

Maguire was also reportedly furious with Shibasaki’s actions, but was equally shocked after the talented centre resurrected his career with an impressive pre-season showing that earnt him a starting spot in Round 1.

Not only has Shibasaki lost his spot in the Broncos’ backline, Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters was reportedly watching the star centre closely.

Shibasaki and Kotoni Staggs are reportedly on Walters’ radar ahead of the end-of-year Ashes tour.
