A Gold Coast man has allegedly attempted to bring 35 kilograms of methamphetamine into Brisbane Airport.
Officers with the Australian Border Force (ABF) stopped the 62-year-old man and examined his bags after he arrived on a flight from Los Angeles on Friday.
The drug haul, worth an estimated $11.4 million, was allegedly found in 12 sealed plastic bags inside his luggage.
The man was arrested by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and charged with one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug.

The maximum penalty if he is found guilty is life imprisonment.
Intelligence used to identify man
AFP Detective Acting Superintendent Shane Scott said the seizure equated to tens of thousands of street-level drug deals.
“I want to reiterate our borders at airports are patrolled actively and diligently by the AFP and ABF to target illegal drugs coming into the country,” he said.
ABF Commander Operations Queensland Troy Sokoloff said officers had used “intelligence-led targeting” to identify the man.
The man was due to face Brisbane Arrest Court today.
