Playing in his final game for Manly at Brookvale Oval, Cherry-Evans let the ball bounce and it trickled back to Jason Saab, who slipped on his goal line and spilt the ball into the waiting hands of Fisher-Harris, who fell over the line to score within nine seconds, smashing the former record of 11.
“I don’t believe this, you are kidding me, that didn’t happen, yes it did,” Andrew Voss said on Fox League.

”It has to be the fastest try in rugby league history and Daly Cherry-Evans is the man who is beaten and James Fisher-Harris is the try-scorer. Oh my goodness. That is ridiculous.
“On a scale the ridiculous is a 15 out of 10. It has blown up. Have you ever seen the likes of that?
“We are confirming that is the quickest try. It is a try in nine seconds. Previous record is 11 seconds. You see the incredible on Fox League and that may have knocked everything else out of the park.

“It was Warriors star Kirisome Auva’a who did it in 11 seconds, which is incredible but Fisher-Harris has topped it all.”
Greg Alexander believes the unusually short mid-range kick-off caught Cherry-Evans off-guard in a horrible start to his final game in Sea Eagles colours.
“It didn’t go as deep as he was expecting and he didn’t want to get to it on the full and Fisher-Harris finishes it off,” Alexander said.

“What an unbelievable start. Cherry-Evans can’t get the ball and Saab going backwards and the bounce was perfect for Fisher-Harris.
“We have seen a lot of firsts this year, but nothing like that. Half the crowd hadn’t even sat down in their seat.
“What a horrible start for Manly and Cherry-Evans in his final game.”
However, Cherry-Evans boucned back to have a hand in three tries as Manly took a 14-6 lead after just 16 minutes in a frantic first quarter of the match.
