Barcelona are reportedly already considering the future of on-loan Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford.

Barcelona are reportedly already considering the future of attacker Marcus Rashford, with the Catalan outfit considering sending the forward back to Manchester United.

Rashford joined Barcelona on loan from Man United towards the end of July, and he is due to spend the entirety of the 2025-26 campaign with the Catalan team.

Barcelona also have the option to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis for a fee in the region of £30m next summer, but according to El Nacional, the forward’s future at Camp Nou is already in doubt.

The report claims that senior figures at Barcelona have been unimpressed by Rashford’s impact, with the Englishman struggling to get going in the early stages of his time at the club.

Rashford is yet to score or register an assist in three La Liga appearances, and he struggled as a starter against Levante, being replaced at the half-time interval of the league fixture.

Barcelona ‘considering Rashford future’ after underwhelming start to life at Camp Nou

Barcelona are believed to be losing their patience when it comes to Rashford, with the Catalan outfit thought to be considering sending him back to Man United in the coming weeks.

The La Liga champions would have to pay Man United £4.3m in order to break the loan agreement, which is also what the club would have to pay out if they decide against signing him on a permanent basis next summer.

Rashford does not have a future at Man United under Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim, with the pair having a tense relationship in the first half of the 2024-25 campaign.

The attacker spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, but Unai Emery’s side decided against a permanent move after missing out on Champions League qualification.

Can Rashford break into Barcelona’s starting XI?

Providing that they are fit, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are absolute certainties in the final third of the field for Barcelona, so it is tough to see where Rashford fits in when it comes to the wide positions.

Robert Lewandowski has had his fitness issues early in the season, but Ferran Torres is the back-up striker, with the Spaniard also ahead of Rashford in the pecking order through the middle.

As a result, it is difficult to see how Rashford breaks into the starting XI unless there are some significant injury problems, but he could still be a valuable squad member, as the volume of matches increases in the coming months.
