A woman was arrested last week on suspicion of trying to drown another woman at Shdot Yam beach in central Israel. Police confirmed Sunday that the two women are daughter-in-law and mother-in-law.
Beachgoers at the time alerted police, reporting that two women were struggling in the water and that one appeared to be drowning.
Officers from the Hadera police station arrived at the scene and began searching for the suspect, who had started swimming out to sea. Meanwhile, the mother-in-law was seen drowning. The woman, a 69-year-old resident of Pardes Hanna, was rescued and taken for medical treatment.
After a search, police located the suspect and arrested her for questioning at the Hadera station. Based on the investigation’s needs and its findings, the court extended the suspect’s detention until September 8, 2025.
