MAX GAWN is now a three-time Keith ‘Bluey’ Truscott Memorial Trophy winner, having been crowned the honour at Melbourne’s AFL Best and Fairest event on Tuesday night.
The 33-year-old was rewarded for a stellar 2025 campaign, finishing atop of the count with 592 votes.
Star midfielder Christian Petracca (479 votes) was runner-up, receiving the Sid Anderson Memorial Trophy, while the flashy Kysaiah Pickett (467 votes) claimed the Ron Barassi Snr Memorial Trophy for a third-place finish.
Gawn’s recognition comes after a dominant and consistent year in the red and blue. A pillar of strength for the Dees, his efforts saw him average 21 disposals, six marks and five clearances – all career-best numbers. He also tallied a total of 826 hit-outs, putting him among the top five in the league.
The ultimate professional, Gawn stood tall in the game’s biggest moments, while his leadership, both on and off the field, was first-class. His consistency earned him an eighth All-Australian blazer – he was just the seventh player in the competition’s history to achieve such feat.
Having won ‘Bluey’ back-to-back in 2018 and 2019, and finishing runner-up last year, this is his first best and fairest as skipper.
Petracca was recognised for another impressive campaign, having returned to the field after missing the second half of last season.
The 29-year-old found his rhythm mixing between midfield and forward, averaging 26 disposals, seven score involvements and four clearances. He also tallied 18 goals across his 23 appearances.
The second-place finish tops off a special night for Petracca, who was also awarded Life Membership for over 10 years of service to the club.
Pickett, known for his game-breaking ability and class, was just as impressive across his 20 matches for the Dees this year.
Averaging 20 disposals, four tackles and two goals a game, the 24-year-old lit up the MCG with his silky skills, earning himself maiden selection in the All-Australian team.
Jake Bowey (459 votes) finished in fourth place, receiving the Ivor Warne-Smith Memorial Trophy after a rock-solid season, with Christian Salem (404 votes) awarded the Dick Taylor Memorial Trophy to round out the top five.
In other awards, veteran Jake Melksham was recognised as the Trademark Player for the season, receiving the James McDonald Trophy, while Kade Chandler was the recipient of the Ron Barassi Jnr Memorial Trophy for his leadership. Harvey Langford was commended for his standout first season with the Best Young Player award.
Tom Campbell claimed the Club Ambassador Award, in recognition of the work he does in the community, while Daniel Turner was presented the Coaches Award.
Alongside Petracca, Melbourne inducted a further seven Life Members on the night, including Melksham and Clayton Oliver, having reached 10 years of service to the red and blue.
