A newly surfaced photo sheds light on the Russo Brothers’ cryptic Avengers: Doomsday tease. First posted with the caption “#DoomsdayIsComing,” the chalkboard photo has since been connected to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, hinting at a larger link between the two stories without revealing key plot details.

The Russos tease a scene on Fantastic Four’s Earth-828 in Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo originally posted this image with the caption “#DoomsdayIsComing.” A wooden ledge runs horizontally across the chalkboard. It matches the one later seen in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and confirms it as Reed Richards’ board. The comparison between the posted photo and the movie version shows its connection to the Avengers traveling to the Fantastic Four’s Earth-828.

Although some fans initially speculated about a new cast reveal, the image instead teases Reed Richards’ blackboard, pointing toward the Fantastic Four link on Earth-828.

Kevin Feige previously confirmed that Earth-616’s Avengers will travel to the Fantastic Four’s world in Doomsday. “Only speaking to the one we’re working on now, shooting now, for people who know the comics and know the word Incursions, those are universes coming together,” Feige said. He added, “We will see this world that we’ve introduced [in The Fantastic Four: First Steps]. We’re shooting on all the same sets that we built for Fantastic Four, and it is very fun.” (via ComicBook.com)

The Fantastic Four: First Steps, released in July 2025, introduced Earth-828’s retro-futuristic reality. The film grossed over $515 million worldwide. It features Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn. The story established Reed Richards as the most scientifically advanced mind in his universe. It also brought Galactus and the Silver Surfer into the MCU. In the post-credits sequence, Sue Storm and Franklin Richards encountered a cloaked figure holding a metal mask, teasing Doctor Doom.

Avengers: Doomsday will continue this storyline, with returning Marvel veterans including Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, Chris Hemsworth, and Paul Rudd. The film will also feature the X-Men, including Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. According to Feige, the Baxter Building will appear in Doomsday. “I would say the now iconic Baxter Building living room and kitchen where we saw the Four get to know each other in this movie, let’s say there are a lot more people in that kitchen in Avengers, and it’s fun to literally see people coming into each other’s homes,” he stated.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for December 18, 2026.
