Gardai have removed the body of a woman in her 70s from the water at the Demesne in Casltrea, Co. Roscommon today.
The woman’s body was recovered and taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway.
The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.
A post-mortem examination has been arranged and the results will determine the course of the Garda investigation. The scene is preserved.
A section of the Demesne in Castlrea Town had been cordoned off earlier today, but was reopened in the afternoon.
Enquiries are ongoing.
