A witness reported seeing a woman “covered in blood”

A woman was injured and a dog killed in a violent dog attack near St Michael’s Station this evening. Police were called to Priory Wood shortly after 8.15pm on Tuesday, September 10, following reports an American Bulldog had attacked another dog.
During the incident, a woman sustained a cut to her hand. Despite emergency efforts, the dog died at the scene. Officers responded and seized the American bulldog. An investigation is underway to identify and locate its owner.
A witness described seeing a woman “covered in blood” near the station. A police helicopter was also seen circling the area around the time of the attack.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward as enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm we received a report that a dog was attacked in St Michael’s this evening, Wednesday 10 September.
“Just after 8.15pm a report was received that an American Bull dog had attacked another dog and a woman sustained a cut to her hand at Priory Wood by St Michael’s Station.
“Sadly the dog died at the scene.
“Officers attended and the American Bull dog was seized and enquiries are ongoing to trace its owner.”
